Introduction

The K400 is a late Cold War era hand grenade of South Korean origin. The design has been inspired by the M67 grenade but has been modified over time. The K400 series has an olive drab body with bright yellow markings.

Design

The K400 has been based on the M67 grenade but is modified in various areas. The K400 has a slightly different body and features the K402 fuze. The steel body is embossed in order to produce a maximum amount of fragments of similar size. The K413 is a smaller and lighter model and features a tungsten body.

Firepower

The K400 is filled with 130 g Comp B and has a lethal radius of 10 to 15 meters. The smaller K413 is filled with 62 g Comp B and also has a lethal radius of 10 to 15 meters. The K413 has a reduced lethality but can be thrown further as it is lighter.

Users

The K400 series hand grenades are standard issue in the South Korean military. The grenade body will produce about 1.300 fragments. They are also available for export and have been sold to various nations, including in South America.
